{"id":814,"date":"2016-09-13T21:06:07","date_gmt":"2016-09-14T01:06:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.aaronemmel.com\/cw\/?p=814"},"modified":"2016-12-07T09:19:27","modified_gmt":"2016-12-07T14:19:27","slug":"the-fire-tree-of-si-in-sub-q-magazine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aaronemmel.com\/cw\/2016\/09\/13\/the-fire-tree-of-si-in-sub-q-magazine\/","title":{"rendered":"The Fire Tree of Si in sub-Q Magazine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My new short story, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/sub-q.com\/fire-tree-si\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Fire Tree of Si<\/a>,&#8221; is out now in <a href=\"https:\/\/sub-q.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">sub-Q Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Fire Tree of Si is an interactive fantasy story set in the world of Dinian (which is also the setting of my story The First King).<\/p>\n<p>I discovered sub-Q a couple of months ago.\u00c2\u00a0 My first thought was, &#8220;Wow, there&#8217;s a magazine dedicated to interactive short fiction?&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 My second was, &#8220;Hey, these stories are really good.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 I wrote The Fire Tree of Si with the hope that sub-Q would publish it.<\/p>\n<p>I should also give a shout-out to Chris Martens, whom I&#8217;ve never met but whose <a href=\"http:\/\/lambdamaphone.blogspot.com\/2015\/02\/using-twine-for-games-research-part-ii.html\" target=\"_blank\">Twine tutorial<\/a> showed me how to track variables behind the scenes based on the reader&#8217;s actions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My new short story, &#8220;The Fire Tree of Si,&#8221; is out now in sub-Q Magazine.
