Now that I’m in the midst of writing my new novel, I’m trying to get down at least 1,000 words a day. Some days I breeze right by that; other days, finding enough time to make that much progress is pretty hard.  But I feel that once you have the first chapter right, everything else picks up its own momentum, so even though it’s been a long time coming now that I’m working on it it’s going pretty smoothly.  My wife pointed out that it’s been over five years since I’ve worked on a big fiction project, so it feels good to be back in the game.

Stuff that’s inspiring me today: a new Walter Mosley short story, a gamebook project on Kickstarter called Arcana Agency, and Mastodon’s Blood Mountain.
