My new short story, “The Fire Tree of Si,” is out now in sub-Q Magazine.

The Fire Tree of Si is an interactive fantasy story set in the world of Dinian (which is also the setting of my story The First King).

I discovered sub-Q a couple of months ago.  My first thought was, “Wow, there’s a magazine dedicated to interactive short fiction?”  My second was, “Hey, these stories are really good.”  I wrote The Fire Tree of Si with the hope that sub-Q would publish it.

I should also give a shout-out to Chris Martens, whom I’ve never met but whose Twine tutorial showed me how to track variables behind the scenes based on the reader’s actions.
